There is a centuries old lie which we are all collectively experiencing, but may not be too aware of. This lie was relevant when the first scythe was invented, when industrialisation really kicked off, once people started typing on typewriters, later on keyboards… And even today this lie is being reiterated through a wondrous technology vaguely called Artificial Intelligence.

Oh yeah, the lie; The lie is that we believe that technological advancements, bring with them more time spent with the people we love, doing activities we enjoy and maybe we just may be a little bit freer in the end. Whatever that is supposed to mean.

Before you accuse me of being a luddite, just for the record, I love technology! I use 4K cameras, I have a high powered PC, I try to learn more every day and am interested in the bleeding edge. My issue is that the things that I do, may already have become inapproachable for others due to said “advancement”.

Tech and Freedom
#

Using technology in a free manner is growing ever more difficult. In some areas you frankly are just kind of fucked from the start. I have a Nothing Phone 2a, it runs Android. And that is the problem. Android is Open Source stolen valor, a Trojan Horse that companies can easily invite onto their smartphones, tablets and cars, which is filled to the brim with google applications. From the file system, to the photo app, to your wallet and newsfeed, it all is Google and it likely is not bothering you.

When it comes to personal computing, you got many options and a lot of room to experiment. You likely use Windows, for some reason, you may be using a laptop, maybe a tower, said tower either uses an NVIDIA GPU or an AMD one, and is filled with other components, namely a motherboard, Random Access Memory and a CPU. What components you pair with what, is fully up to you, you can even buy expansion cards if you feel like it, and swap out pieces if needed. It is like playing Lego, just much, much easier. All things considered, computing can be a pretty inexpensive hobby, given you get economically chosen components or use second hand gear and hand me downs. Over time you can even hoard enough technology to build a second, third, maybe even fourth computer.

My Server was born like that, squeezed out of my wardrobes orifice, using components that are practically ancient to me. A Motherboard, CPU, 24 Gigs of RAM and a Case, with the only new components being a rather efficient power supply and a couple Hard Disk Drives.

I wanted to already buy some higher capacity RAM sticks but ran into a little, currently unfixable problem.

Rules Based Order
#

We live in a Rules Based Order. In case you have no idea what that means, it means that you, the peon, pawn, plebian, slave, whatever synonym for “tool” you identify with, have to follow rules, while our corporate and governmental overlords can do whatever they want. Unless you are some hedgefund kid or some well off manchild who hasn’t developed the most basic iterations of empathetic thought, you most definitely have felt your hand getting bitten and would be outraged if you understood what the elites want to take from you. You shouldn’t ignore your hand being bitten, if you do you help doom us all!

Anyhow, if you need convincing that our world really is as fucked as I just described it, just look at what happened at the very beginning of this new year. The POTUS, which by the way stands for Pedophile of the United States, decided that his slaves should invade a sovereign nation and kidnap it’s leader, just like that!

An unjustifiable act that is currently being justified by shortsighted optimists and spineless politicians with a more selective disposition in terms of calling out unlawful behaviour.

Our “rules based order” sees no issue with a country being invaded and their leader being kidnapped. it also does nothing to stop our rights and freedoms from being eroded across multiple domains, with the one I want you to focus on for now being the centralisation of compute power and services, a problem which is already screwing us all over for a while. Now it is especially bad due to the biggest leeches on earth hoovering up more money, power, literal electrical power and computer components all for themselves.

An Artificial Incubus.
#

AI. You can call it Artificial Intelligence, the opening of pandora’s box, an inevitable force of nature, maybe even as the peak of utilitarian technology.

I see it as a caressing, attractive, seductor. An Artificial Incubus if you will.

At the core of someone deciding to use AI for anything, is the want to not do something oneself. Which is cool, fair and I myself partake. It has real benefits in nigh every paradigm and if you disagree with that take, then I applaud your principle, but you are maybe a little dense. As a tool, AI can save heaps of time and can even be a part of your daily life. Once you get to setting up your own server, you will see how easy the AI summaries of your favourite search engine can really make your troubleshooting processes as an example.

Problem is: There is this noxious undercurrent here which is fertilised with insidious intent, a product that has been carried to term through violation.

Now, years after this technology has hit the mainstream, we are collectively worn out, fatigued by this wondrous technology which was supposed to democratise everything under the sun. Aside from people killing themselves through AI induces psychoses, people losing all faith in the job market after being made redundant by this technology that was supposed to make lives easier and not harder and by being bombarded with AI cat videos underscored by a meowing cover of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I made For?” we simply can’t see these Large Language Models as anything overtly useful.

Ironically, this nightmare is something we are supposed to somehow accept into our lives and sacrifice ourselves not only financially, but even with our intellect and well being and that with a psychopathic fervour.

If you want to be like that, then sure do that, and make sure to post your favourite Palantir phonk edits in the comments. For the rest of you that don’t, keep the following in mind: NVIDIA, OpenAI, Samsung, Google, these companies, they are convinced that you are a retard. They think you are a mouth breathing idiot that can’t look out for themself. All you need to do is watch one ad to really understand this.

To be able to turn pasta sauce into cookies, like water to wine, AI companies have done the virtuous act of sacrificing more of our freedom and money and if you live in the States, then also your electricity bill budget and drinking water. In order to generate the following video…

We must subsidise every AI company under the sun, allow them to run their operation with stolen data, while for us peons pirating media is oh so bad, and on top of that, we can’t use affordable high power computer components ever again.

Memories of Memory
#

In case you haven’t been keeping up on the tech news as of late, yes, the biggest welfare seekers on earth have decided that they need computer components all for themselves. The component of choice for the most part is RAM right now, which normally is a rather inexpensive component of your run of the mill computer. If you check out various storefronts right now, you will get bombarded with truly shocking prices when it relates to RAM sticks and SSDs and everyone really is kind of struggling right now. Hell, Samsung wanted to buy RAM from Samsung and Samsung said no, that is where we are at right now and that is only the case because billion dollar companies need more money and decide to focus on AI data centers as their main clients, said clients powering a technology that pretty much everyone I know personally detests! But hey, at least I could generate videos like this one if I wanted to.

The reality is, this shit is going to continue unless the AI bubble bursts catastrophically, and what this hardware crisis shows, is that there is a dire need for open source hardware and a less wasteful approach to computing is a must today too, so you better hold on to your components!

All of this is happening due to unchecked greed and also due to an internet that is far too centralised. The web is fundamentally broken as we rely on multiple monopolies controlling everything. We traded our own personal websites for social media accounts, abandoned independent video distribution for YouTube and similar platforms and rejected content syndication -the act of curating your own media- in favour of being spoonfed by algorithms. We lived in the future 20 years or so ago, and it shows how good decentralised technology is when all proposals for Web3 are just how the Web was previously, just executed in the most demonically commercialised way possible, turning an anarchic internet, into an anarcho capitalist one.

The capitalist angle very rarely benefits the plebian. There are some entities such as FUTO, commonly confused with a greek salted cheese and very well endowed fictional hermaphrodites, which gives generous grants to open source projects in order to make the internet a better place. FUTO is not explicitly Socialist, it believes in the exchange of money and emphasises that Open Source technology should be funded and developers compensated, with their own software technically not being free, but rather incurring a fee you are expected to pay, but which is only optional in practice. FUTO is special as its led by a billionaire who is benevolent to the lower castes of our societies, normally when Openness is promised, it is to the detriment of the peon.

Take OpenAI as an example, the lie is plain as day in the name of the entity. Nothing about OpenAI is Open. Their Large Language Models are proprietary, they pivoted their technology into being a commercial service instead of a free to use good for society, and actions behind the scenes all indicate that things are only about to get worse.

Action Plans
#

    Page: /

Now this is an interesting document; OpenAI's proposal to a potential American "AI Action Plan". This document is an interesting read, showcasing the willingness of your run of the mill corporation to fuse with the state for their own benefit, even sycophantically starting with a quote of Donald Trump, stroking the megalomaniacs ego with his own words. The Document goes into the Weeds about how America can kick off a new industrial revolution centering on Artifial Intelligence and how the United States can weaponise Open Source technology for their own geopolitical benefit.

The document was released in March 2025, with the highlights being a proposed 3 tiered country system which can be used to exert trade restriction, a hypocritical set of - I guess you could call them “values” - many of the ideas would follow, which include ideas like not using AI to oppress and surveil citizens when the Border Patrol already is using softwares like Palantir to track and detain people and it is littered with appeals to deregulation and even a suspension of copyright restrictions to make the States competitive in relation to AI, without a worry in the world about training processes of future models being deemed illegal.

OpenAI’s proposal makes a strong argument for putting the corporation first. Sam Altman’s company proposed an opt in system for private companies to make use of Federal assets and information to have a competitive advantage and it even suggests reigniting semiconductor production and fasttracking AI infrastructure construction. All of this deregulation and fascistoid ideas of integrating big tech into federal entities, funnily enough is justified as a “counter to authoritarianism”, basically a REAL AMERICAN PATRIOT approved own of Communist China, you know, the country so Communist it beat the entire West at their own Neo-Liberal capitalist game. Marx must have wrote about this…

The advantage of this paper really is that a government filled with sub 80 IQ ingrates was the target audience, so betting on lazy “China bad” rhetoric and “Domination cool” justifications was the right move here, especially because soon after the White House would unveil their finalized AI Action Plan which has overlapping qualities with OpenAI’s proposal.

    Page: /

Now, this is it, the future of America. This AI Action Plan, which released in July of 2025, was clearly inspired by OpenAIs proposal, as you will see if you read it... Which you most definitely should.

It includes the same calls to deregulation, the same fearmongering towards the state of China, extended ideas on building infrastructure and educating the slave class on how to build and use AI tooling, and it doubles down on weaponizing Open Source for a global AI dominance.

The worst thing is, clearly the States have been working on implementing the plan, as datacenters have been popping up left, right and center and deregulation efforts which are in part supported bipartisanly, are either already put in motion, or have successfully been completed.

We also cannot overlook the significance of AI in the Federal government. ICE uses Palantir to commit an ethnic cleansing more efficiently, the Department of War is proudly using AI technologies and telling people to get involved themselves, and after the government was gutted from within, it is safe to assume that automation solutions were implemented in many more federal offices than we know of right now. The White House even used AI to falsify an image of an arrested lawyer after an ICE protest, which I assume to be a racially fuelled appeal to white nationalists. Why else make a black woman cry in agony with the wondrous magic of AI?

The big problem is this AI action plan is not only obscure, it is something that essentially every company that is in the AI field believes in and is directly profiting off from, which makes them the closest ally of the Trump administration. Said companies are also known for investing into each other’s companies.

Going in Circles
#

What we can observe is essentially circular investments all revolving around a few companies such as OpenAI and NVIDIA, where one party makes the investment, so the receiving party can buy hardware and software from the party that invested in the first place. On top of that, Sam Altman, the demon running OpenAI, is investing into a variety of companies that all have something to do with AI in some tangential form. Power generation companies, insurance companies specialising in loss of work due to AI, and even investments into a cryptocurrency as an intended replacement for regular fiat currencies. Altman thought of everything, even preparing to mooch off of the victims of this technology of his.

The Shortage of RAM also is entirely profit driven. Companies such as Micron have spotted that they can make much more money from AI data centers, which led to them killing the Crucial brand and them deciding to solely sell to Datacenters. NVIDIA is making a similar move, making deals with Palantir, praising the military industrial complex, and deciding to sell their GPUs predominantly to AI enterprises, pricing everyone else out of the market, with the high end RTX 5090 cards having risen in price by 150%.

Do you understand what that means? Yes, they consolidated compute power for themselves, because you do not deserve to have it and they can just do it because no one will stop them. This will have unilateral lasting impacts on us all if the situation does not blow over eventually. Cloud based computing will become bigger than ever, prebuilt computers and laptops will ship with significantly less powerful hardware and nigh every computer compontent which makes use of Memory of some kind will inflate in price. This does include cars, smart fridges, smart watches, anything “smart” really.

What now?
#

You may wonder what can be done about this, to which I have to answer that I don’t exactly know. The belief in the technology is in a way the core of the problem already, as it is how our system works in the first place. If there was no belief in AI and how it currently worked, no one would invest in it, no one would use it and no one would lose their job over this tech. Reality is, everyone sees merit in the technology in some way, whether it be NVIDIA to line their pockets, Game Development Studios to automate some issues away, artists of various kinds to aid their workflows and home cooks who poured too much sugar in their Gochujang pasta sauce.

It doesn’t matter how unperformant AI is for the most part, nor does it matter that this one industry is sabotaging affordable computing for everyone, as shareholders will just get more money for now and that is that.

For any individual, I think it is important to get proactive about shaping a better internet, one that does not rely on corporations for the most basic of things. You do not need a middle man for watching a TV show, reading a Book or article, or for making friends and getting your opinion heard, so why do you need social media services and platforms such as YouTube or Tik Tok? Because you have been forced into dependence. There is another way of doing things, which is becoming self reliant. If you do have the spare parts to build a server and provide services to yourself, family and friends, you are reshaping the internet into the thing it was supposed to be. “Internet” means a net of nets, a weave that connects multiple little worlds together into one whole, which is something tech bro entrepreneurs kind of hate, as the bread and butter capitalist business strategy always has been infinite growth. You build and expand, expand, expand at a loss to get as many people on board as possible and then you think about making money. Sound familiar? It should, as that is how companies such as Uber, Spotify, YouTube, Google and many more have established a stranglehold on the internet, with AI companies being the newest kids on the block.

The blind belief in AI requires trillions of dollars in investments, a reckless strategy for expansion which will come at a cost of the plebians who have no choice but to live under fascist or soon to be fascist governments and all of this is to power a massive industry, which runs on the back of the most unsustainable technology we have seen invented. The Software Suite NVIDIA loves and various western countries and Israel use called Palantir, requires services like Grok or ChatGPT to be integrated in order to effectively racially profile and deport people out of the United States and to effectively run the Palestinian genocide or to parse through all of your personal data in the medicinal field. Most companies utilising AI functionality really, require some kind of plugin that connects to an external, or rarely self hosted Large Language Model. The entire AI industry has to be fully committed to the technology or else it all falls apart. No more AI girlfriends, no more brain expanding AI generated videos, and most importantly, no more automation for the military industrial complex, the main component which I believe the United States really care about in their quest to keep funding a never ending money sink.

Now for the gamers still watching who normally aren’t interested in such topics, this is exactly why you absolutely need to be clued into what is happening right now. We are observing a centralised technology, which is embedded across every imaginable industry, taking control of hardware in a way that is much more destructive, resulting in worse shortages and price hikes when compared to for instance the crypto mining hype of the early 2020s. Companies are now having to more drastically optimise their programs to adjust for a 4 to 8 Gig of RAM future, Games already have been struggling with users not having accesss to higher tier gear, and independent creatives like myself are facing outrageous prices for computer components which are nowhere near as valuable. The result of this is inevitably going to be a larger emphasis on rented compute power, such as by using services like the defunct Google Stadia, or by the very much not defunct NVIDIA Geforce Now service.

It shows how cynical your future is going to be plain as day. Usage limits, queues, and a monthly subscription to harness the power of a GPU. This is catastrophic to gaming as a hobby, mainly due to having to deal with latency and having yet another subscription to deal with. But it is far worse for much more important domains. Video, 3D, Audio, essentially every domain can be made dependent to cloud compute. What is gonna be a creative’s alternative? Buying a high spec PC for an unjustifiable price? With now nigh every component being too expensive? Don’t kid yourself, you will not do that. You will eventually accept the deal with the devil and eventually be fine with it, like Google on your Android smartphone and AI in your Windows operating system.

We can only do so much.
#

The reality is, AI is too big to fail. It is used in every industry, embedded into Government systems and is effectively running the US military, likely others too. Especially Israel. Too many make a quick buck from AI generated content, too many people code using it, too many companies see value in it, more and more common people are starting to use it and everyone is in some way exposed to it. It is very likely to stay, especially with the United States’ plans to stay in power in one way or another.

The heart of AI right now is squarely American, with most LLMs we are aware of being run by American companies, NVIDIA dominating the AI space with their hardware and research and the leaders of these companies and others cozy up to Trump to ensure governmental support.

We are unilaterally fucked.

AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, are all American companies. Most LLMs are American and solutions which help us host our own local models, in the end will often require a distilled model which has been made available to us from one of those American entities. If the USA run their entire military operation and large parts of their government on AI systems, they cannot allow them to fail and will eat the costs. If anything us slaves will be priced out of using AI too, by free models slowly disappearing and token prices increasing, which would be another loss for us yet again. One that I personally do not believe is coming.

For the time being, we can only do so much. We can wait, see if any Chinese companies are going to come up with a commercial solution for memory and GPUs, we can start decentralizing the web more and more, making little services for our friends, engaging and bettering the world as much as we can through establishing multiple smaller webs. Let us wait, and see.

Silver Linings
#

Just before you go, there are silver linings. While the US is doing everything they can to basically have a dominance in AI and ensure that everyone is dependent on their technology, they are fucking up on the strategy. Big time. The entire West has turned against the US. An exception to like a few countries here and there. Germany and Italy still have sympathies to the United States and they want to keep relations as friendly and sympathetic as possible, which I disagree with. But many countries are turning their backs and are pursuing more trade relationships with the Chinese. The thing that really gives me hope there.

The thing that really gives me hope in this entire situation about hardware and software and all that shit is that the Chinese are actually working on providing GPU and RAM alternatives. These would be priced lower, forcing the Americans to either conform to these prices or to stick to their guns and just keep the prices high and mighty. And the AI technology that comes from the Chinese very often, if not exclusively lately, is open. So, Kimi K2 comes to mind, DeepSeek R1 comes to mind, the Qwen models. There are a lot of Chinese models that anyone can just download and use right now. It goes from speech synthesis, voice cloning, you know, speech to text as well as a thing, just the thinking models that think through an answer and give you an answer. The quantized models which allow you to run AI on your local machine using some kind of front end. There is a lot of hope there, because why would a country like France especially, a country that takes open source stuff more seriously than other countries, want to use an American model when there is no trust in America as a nation? So maybe things are gonna turn out just right in the end.

And with the Americans essentially threatening to take over Greenland, having invaded Venezuela, having made itself a pariah amongst the other imperial Western nations, there is no real hope anymore of this stupid action plan actually working.

But, you know, we still have to wait. We still have to see.
